ATTENTION: Roofing Contractors

San José Evergreen Community College District is partnering with The Garland Company for upcoming roofing projects. For these projects, the materials will be owner-furnished and THE INSTALLATION CONTRACTOR MUST BE PRE-APPROVED BY GARLAND.

Both formal and informal solicitations may be processed through our online system. All responses are due at or before the time shown on each solicitation. Late responses cannot be accepted. It is the bidder's/proposer's responsibility to ensure that the most complete and current version of the solicitation, including addenda, has been downloaded.

Construction Contractors

The San José Evergreen Community College District (SJECCD) has adopted the California Public Construction Cost Accounting Act (CUPCCAA) and Informal Bidding Procedures under CUPCCAA. Per California PCC 22032, any public works project that is estimated to be above $60,000 and below $200,000 is subject to Informal Bidding Procedures set forth by CUPCCAA. Projects estimated to be above $200,000 are subject to Formal Bidding Procedures set forth by CUPCCAA.

All licensed contractors are invited to submit their firm’s information to SJECCD for inclusion on SJECCD's LIST OF REGISTERED BIDDERS for the current calendar year. An interested contractor must register and provide, at minimum, their company name, address, and EIN; their contact name, email, and phone; and their CSLB license information. To register, access the District's PlanetBids portal at the link above.

The registration process is for the purpose of being notified of bid opportunities according to your license classification. To submit a Bid, a Contractor must be properly licensed by the CSLB and must be registered with the state Department of Industrial Relations at the time of submitting the bid.

Please note that San José-Evergreen Community College District has a Construction Careers Agreement with the Santa Clara & San Benito Building & Construction Trades Council. Applicable for projects greater than $200,000.


Outreach Program for Qualified Businesses

The District recognizes the importance of supplier diversity and seeks to identify and encourage small and disadvantaged businesses to participate in the District's procurement and bidding process.

On March 13, 2018, the Board of Trustees approved Action Item H-8 - Outreach Program for Qualified Businesses (Outreach Program). This Outreach Program has been created to implement, and adhere to, the District's Board's End Policy and Administrative Procedure 6380.

Measure X-2016

On November 8, 2016, voters residing within the San-Jose Evergreen Community College District passed Measure X, allowing the District to issue $748 million in bonds to repair and upgrade San José City College and Evergreen Valley College Campuses and classrooms, including:

  • Updating labs for nursing, science, technology and engineering;
  • Expanding educational resources for veterans;
  • Improving campus safety and security; and
  • Removing asbestos and lead paint, among other priorities.

Measure X will help SJECCD meet the facilities, safety, technology, programs and services needs for student success as identified in the Evergreen Valley College and San José City College Facilities Master Plans 2030, which was approved by the Board of Trustees on January 12, 2016.
