Accreditation Reaffirmed for San Jose City, Evergreen Valley Colleges; Both Removed From Probation, Warning Status
The San Jose/Evergreen Community College District has been notified that accreditation for both colleges has been reaffirmed by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The notification this week from the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges immediately removes San Jose City College from Probation, and Evergreen Valley College from Warning Status. The action was taken at the Commission’s semi-annual meeting on January 9-11, 2013. The two-year turnaround, a rare accomplishment in the field of higher education, was the result of a strong commitment and hard work from faculty and staff, trustees, administrators and students, said SJECCD Chancellor Rita Cepeda.
“Accreditation is the stamp of approval certifying the academic integrity of our institutions to students, community members, governmental and regulatory agencies,” she added. “It represents a reaffirmation of excellence, and a clear demonstration that we have moved the needle significantly toward excellence.”
