Message from the Board President
The San Jose/Evergreen Community College District Foundation has developed an ambitious three-year strategic plan for the period of July, 2007 to June, 2010. The Foundation directors have set a goal of increasing the foundation’s assets by three-fold to $4.5 million, and to triple the number of scholarship dollars awarded by the end of the third year.
In addition, the strategic plan calls for re-vamping the Foundation’s investment policy to enhance the return on invested assets such as endowment funds. At least one major fund-raising activity will be conducted each year that will serve as a “friend-raising” event. The long-run objective laid out in this plan is to become financially independent from the district while supporting an Executive Director and staff. One of the first activities intended in the fiscal year beginning July, 2007 will be to hire the Executive Director.
The Foundation Board of Directors has a new sense of purpose and a desire to make a difference in the lives of hundreds of students by assisting in raising the resources necessary to enable citizens in our community to pursue their dreams through a postsecondary experience at either Evergreen Valley College or San Jose City College. With your support and assistance, we can work together to sustain and strengthen this wonderful area in which we live and work.
Alex Torres
President, Foundation Board of Directors.
