The Board of Trustees of the San Jose / Evergreen Community College District (SJECCD) is in the process of appointing a new Chancellor.
As the District's Chief Executive Officer, the Chancellor is responsible for all aspects of District operations, and reports to an elected seven-member Board of Trustees. The Board is seeking a creative, energetic, dedicated and visionary individual who can lead the District well into the 21st century.
The Chancellor works in collaboration with the college presidents and faculty, staff and student governance groups to meet the ever-changing educational needs of an extremely diverse community and its student population. Under policies and priorities established by the Board, the Chancellor is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the programs and services of the District to meet the educational needs of the students and the community. As the administrative leader of the District, the Chancellor plays a key role in representing the District to numerous community, business, labor, educational and governmental groups.
The ideal candidate is an accomplished professional with experience that demonstrates an ability to lead and to serve as a spokesperson for a diverse educational institution. SJECCD seeks applications from all qualified individuals. It is the continuing goal of the District to hire and retain faculty and staff that reflects the rich diversity and cultural heritage of the District and its student body. The individual must possess the following educational background, professional experience and personal characteristics.
